Z, hope you are enjoying your saturday. Wanted to follow up on the oil thread from this post: https://zmansenergybrain.com/2020/09/10/thursday-morning-pe-fcel-bldp/comment-page-1/#comment-845433
This post from HFIR prompted something that’s been on my mind regarding oil: https://twitter.com/HFI_Research/status/1304507961885241360?s=20
sure oil rigs are down globally, but Opec was choking back even before covid. Then Opec+ cut ~8mbd after covid, so let’s say we get a vaccine or whatever and we get back to 98%ish of previous demand, will we really need many more rigs or could all that be met if Opec+ brings capacity back online?
re 1 – thanks, absolutely will be addressed in the Subscriber Mailbag in the Stuff section Monday morning.
Z, one more question…
I think gasoline and diesel recover faster than jet fuel. What’s the impact of that? Is it just something refiner’s manage are there certain areas that will be hit harder than others?
For background, I’m interested in taking a large position in oil and am trying to figure out what a market rebound looks like and when in order to determine the size and composition of my investment.
re 3 – understood.
