Hopefully the weekend wrap is OK for somewhat off topic. Relating to CIGX…two articles.

Article on pieces to Alzheimer's puzzle. Inflammation is a huge key.
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703806304576242781646480162.html?mod=WSJ_article_MoreIn_Life%26Culture
Summation:
So we can begin to tell a coherent story [of what causes Alzheimer's]. Stress and inflammation produce derivatives of cortisol and cholesterol, which trigger misfolding in A-beta proteins. This, in turn, overwhelms the cells' quality-assurance mechanism and results in growing numbers of insoluble proteins, which aggregate in plaques and tangles. And this blocks the transport of vital ingredients around brain cells, which causes the cells to die.
Somewhere along this chain, there is a link, we must hope, that can be attacked by medication—to prevent inflammation, discourage ozone reactions, encourage the refolding apparatus, improve protein solubility or boost the plaque-removal mechanism.
David — thank you for posting. All I can say is "wow." That is exactly what the Roskamp Institute's studies on RCP-006 have found. It dissolves the "sticky plaque"… the same stuff that builds up in the brain of Alzheimer's patients. In addition, it reduces inflammation with no side affects. Seems to me, this is all coming together nicely. And — for anyone who thinks Jonnie Wms is a Scam Artist (he isn't) — I think that concept is nicely hedged by Robert Roskamp's pretty strong reputation. Wow.
April 9th, 2011 at 11:41 amRe #2 …and if you have a drug that eliminates one or two of the links in the creation chain….that may be all you need to have success.
April 9th, 2011 at 12:03 pmOT: Interesting that there is no mention of "Star Scientific" in this editorial from last Thursday (written by the head Doctor at Roskamp)… Interesting in that it is Star who invented (and owns the patent) on the RCP-006 compound. Also, this is the first time I have seen in print that Roskamp and JohnsHopkins are working together on finding applications for RCP-006.
April 9th, 2011 at 1:03 pmAfter reading this, why wouldn't you own a few shares of CIGX. If this does what they think it might… well… the implications are pretty significant…

(My apologies, z!! But I brought this one to the dance… I have to support it until it can tango on its own. Thanks for continuing to allow this OT discussion.)
BOP, when I see CIGX being aided by the SEC in order to fend off a bear raid,it makes me wonder about “Oil slick” Williams. Maybe the bears are onto an ugly truth. How can CIGX be on the verge of something so great and yet have no “Star” like status as a stock?
April 9th, 2011 at 1:23 pmEnergy
April 9th, 2011 at 1:29 pmram — time will tell. We can lose 100%… or we can gain many times 100%. And we don't have to wait 3-4 yrs (for clinical trials). We should know in less than a year, I would think. Jonnie may be "slick"… but JohnsHopkins has a pretty good reputation, last time I checked. If they come out and say something positive about (Star-patented) RCP-006, I think CIGX (hate that stock symbol) may be reborn as a Star.
April 9th, 2011 at 1:32 pmz — sorry! Won't say another NON-Energy word this weekend. PROMISE!!!
April 9th, 2011 at 1:32 pmSpeaking of energy… was told to take a close look at HDY. I know the stock has been mentioned on this board… but does anyone have anything they could share about it? Thanks.
April 9th, 2011 at 1:33 pmNothing fresh re HDY, was a pretty risky name about 2 years ago when I reviewed but good or at least experienced management. I don't mind the off topic but the CIGX gets to be a bit of beaten to death pony for me.
April 9th, 2011 at 1:39 pm#9 I have an in-law geologist that knows and has previously worked with Ray Leonard and other principal players in this project and vouches for their credentials. I'll pass on anything that might be helpful beyond what is readily available.
April 9th, 2011 at 1:42 pmThanks Zorg, I've heard Leonard speak a few times, pretty impressive, good bio. Will be updating that SDM soonish.

Apologies for the short wrap post this weekend, gotta get back to Intern #1's first tournament.
April 9th, 2011 at 1:47 pmUpdate on tournament, please.

April 9th, 2011 at 6:32 pmZorg — just curious… did your in-law geologist work with Ray at Amoco?
April 9th, 2011 at 6:59 pmRe: 8, 10 – I respect Z's desire to keep this forum focused on energy stocks. But I am also very interested in the CIGX story for two reasons. One is the potential to make some money on the stock. But the larger reason is that several people in my family have had Alzheimer's and my mother started her downhill spiral with the disease when she was about my age. So I am always looking for a new drug, supplement, protocol or whatever that might keep me from getting the ravages of Alzheimer's. Therefore, I would like to have a channel for further information on the CIGX progress as BOP and others have good information on the company and its progress. But in order to not clutter up this forum, maybe we should agree to meet on some other location to discuss CIGX. Maybe a CIGX blog somewhere? Either an existing one or a new one we start for the purpose?
April 9th, 2011 at 7:12 pmZ — breaking my promise… but Dave's heart-felt comment just begs for an answer.
April 9th, 2011 at 7:21 pmDaveH — I will post anything that is important about Star. If it's not important, I won't post. So we can cut through the jumble. I have no desire to go back-and-forth with anyone about why this or why that. I have done years of work on this and am comfortable with the risk/return profile. But that is me. Well… that, and one of my closest friends in this biz is one of the largest institutional holders… so I get added confidence from that.
There is a guy who goes by the name of IzofTexas on the Yahoo Cigx board… if you ask him, he runs an invitation-only discussion of the stock. Seems to be a good thing to belong to. I don't…. but I know what I need to know at this point.
Alzheimer's is hideous. Just hideous. Lost an Uncle to it…. 'nuff said. I understand anyone's desire to do anything to avoid such a terrible disease.
Re:17 Thanks, I will definitely get connected to IzofTexas.
April 9th, 2011 at 7:58 pmDaveH – completely understand that. Lost my wife's mom about two years ago after a 10 year battle with the early onset form. Worse things I can only imagine as she was a speech pathologist whose first symptom was to lose the ability to speak more rapidly than we could believe. So no worries re CIGX chatter.
April 9th, 2011 at 8:04 pmBOP
April 9th, 2011 at 9:19 pm…He did work at Amoco among other places(retired now).If Ray Leonard was with Amoco at that time that would make sense.
For what it's worth
He also pointed me to BPC Bahamas Petroleum that has recently JV'd with StatOil on a project between the Bahamas and Cuba. He knew the salt expert on this one as well as a source at StatOil. http://www.rigzone.com/news/article.asp?a_id=104314
Another spec one, but as of yet he hasn't tried to sell me a time share…..
Z, my condolences on the loss of your wife's mom. My next door neighbor had the early onset Alzheimer's also starting at age 58 and she died of it when she was 62. She went from being the person who knew everyone and everything in the neighborhood to over the cliff in a matter of four years. It is indeed a cruel disease.
April 9th, 2011 at 9:39 pmWell, I confess that I have added to the OT conversations and after these OT comments I will strive not to do so ever again! I can understand wanting to keep things energy. That is why I pay to access this site. However, I don't see getting wound up about a non topic or two by contributors. One can readily skip by the OT comments to re-find energy and relevant information and the OTs are much less irritating than pop-up ads. [I hope I have not given Z a new income flow idea] I am new but my perception is that if Z were spending his days here mulling over CIGX or Tiger's golf comeback, or Obama's incompetence (I couldn't resist) then I could see the point of complaint. Z is being paid, but Z is not diverting his attentions. He is always on point, and though it may be beating the dead horse, BOP and all of you provide much valuable information that BOP and all of you are kind enough to provide to everyone free of charge. All in all, though this is Z's site, there is tremendous value added by BOP and all of you (myself mostly excluded) that makes this a great group to listen to. I understand some don't think much of CIGX and it certainly scares the crud out of me but in the end the enthusiast comments are made as friends to friends with the hope that everyone here makes some money. Maybe BOP's hopes will be dashed but his heart is to the reader's future better fortunes.
April 9th, 2011 at 10:14 pmDisclosures: I have 3 CIGX option contracts currently valued at $232. My mother died much too young after a brutally long lonely affliction from stinking Alzheimer's.
PS—If Z ever wanders off point beat the crap out of him!
re 13 – 1W,2L valiant effort though.
