Wrap – Week Ended 2/23/18

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

The ZLT was up ~ 3% last week and is down 8.3% on the year.

The energy groups were up 0.8% (gassy names) to 2.2% (oil service) on the week and are down in a range 12.6% (again, the gassy names are bringing up the rear) to down 4.3% (again, OIH) on the year.  See The Wrap table below for details.

Last week we got a better looking set of weekly data out of EIA for headlines and internals and we got a number of as expected updates out of owned and unowned names with more of a sense of urgency towards return of capital to shareholders, something that's helping put more footing under the group after a good January was more than reversed by the tough first two weeks of February.  For comments on HCLP, CXO, SLCA, LNG, NFX, PE, MTDR, WPX, WLL, CLR, COG, and OII please see last week's posts.

We will have a new version of So Far This Quarter in the Tuesday post.

Next week's Earnings Calendar is posted to the Calendar tab.

The Blotter is updated.

Fun graphs of the week:

Questions and comments under The Wrap will be addressed in the Monday post.  Have a nice weekend.
