Wrap – Week Ended 8/22/14
.
.
Decent week for the portfolios, up 2 to 4% across the ZLT's, as the noise of summer plays out. We spent the week listening to presentations from an energy conference and pulling together post quarter updates on a number of names of interest including CRZO with a version here for Seeking Alpha as well as updating our thoughts on the sub groups (last week Wattenberg, next week Permian).
Holdings Watch:
- No position closings last week but we did add a new starter Core and we added to an existing Core in the ZLT.
- The Blotter is updated.
Questions under the Wrap will be addressed in the Subscriber Mailbag section of the Monday post.

August 24th, 2014 at 1:31 amWinter weather predictions aligning among Almanac groups: COLD
Old Farmer's Almanac: http://journaltimes.com/news/local/prediction-winter-to-bring-vicious-cold-worse-than-last-year/article_8ce9955b-adb7-5613-ad5e-ba13b72c97ca.html

Noticed that both groups use sunspot activity cycle data as an important factor in their predictions. The current phase of the cycle indicates cold winters, a situation that can last several years or longer: “The cycle is (now) the smallest it’s been for 100 years. That’s an indicator of extreme cold,” she said. “We will enter a period — for possibly a few decades — of colder-than-normal temperatures.”–Old Farmer's Almanac
August 24th, 2014 at 1:35 pmz SN after they bought the shell assets, you indicated that you might pick up some shares but I don't think you did. Was this due to too many other oppertunitites or another reason? How are you with the management? They seem to be moving in the right direction and once they get the shell assets moving, could have some significant increases in production. tia
August 24th, 2014 at 6:25 pmre 2 Bastardi seems to put a lot more emphasis on sunspots than carbon, so maybe the almanc (0r maybe Bastardi) is on to something.
