Wrap – Week Ended 07/15/11 (In Progress)
Bye bye Petrohawk.
ZTRADE - ZLT - HK
- HK – Sold the entire position for $38.30, up 95%. The name was the 6th largest position in the ZLT Thursday night and left the portfolio Friday morning in the #3 position. They will be missed.
- I'll have the ZLT priced and re ranked over the weekend.
Our Bakken and Eagle Ford play holdings jumped on the news (not surprising) but maintained their gains during the day with many closing on their highs. See Friday's post here for further thinking on who benefits (and we saw some wrong think out there on the Street so be careful where you get your news).
Other Stuff:
- In case you missed it we had a NOG well study out this week, see the surprising results he.
More later....
GHS next week so maybe we’ll have some fun operating updates!?!
July 15th, 2011 at 7:28 pmCramer was all buy, buy, buy over CHK tonight.
July 15th, 2011 at 7:43 pmBEXP had nice day today with pretty solid volume. RRC broke through new high today, in what seems like an unbelievable change of heart attempting to hold 51 only a few weeks ago.
July 15th, 2011 at 8:35 pmWLL finally got an uplift today. It has been on my buy list but i was looking for a better entry. EOG made a strong move on 3x average volume.
Amazing how HK deal woke up the entire neighborhood. If memory serves me right, XTO deal has similiar effect.
July 15th, 2011 at 8:42 pmProb contains nothing new to board members here but it is not a bad summary (pending energy crisis):

July 16th, 2011 at 12:59 amI think we may be in for some better times in the markets towards the latter part of the year. Perusing some charts in the tech/internet sector i’m seeing some productive charts.
As an example SINA and NICE both show retesting of March lows and establishing cup and handle formations on the chart. This is becoming a consistent theme in the names that seem of more interest to investors/funds.
Sorry for the off topic but i thought i would share the info. for those that also look for outside energy for diversification.
July 16th, 2011 at 5:16 amRe 5, article also fails to mention the increased domestic consumption of Saudi Arabia internally and that the “excess capacity” is heavy & sour.

Interestingly this information is not on the Alyeska website.
July 17th, 2011 at 5:50 amRunning down the ZLT Top 10 for tomorrow's post. Not the WIOWIO but just some quick current thoughts on why they are were they are in the portfolio and if they should be there (for me at least).
July 17th, 2011 at 11:04 amHAL call 9 am EST tomorrow.
