GHS does a Bakken piece deciding stock appreciation from acreage acq. is over, valuations high. Now value will come from converting acres into production and reserves, followed by cash flow growth.
June 4th, 2011 at 2:08 pmYeah, saw their comments mid week, headline on WLL was "not all acreage created equal"
1) no kidding
2) GHs is late with the thinking that acreage valuation is over but the comment that valuations (all valuations?) are high is too broad a statement.
3) all plays go from acreage, to production to cash flow and reserves valuation stages. If you value on $/BOE flowing just becuase you decide that all of the older metrics (like acreage) are now over you wouldn't touch the group. Given the size of the basin, you can't simply say valuations are over since you have a bunch of cores and many more lite areas.
In other words, see #1 above.
June 4th, 2011 at 2:25 pmAnd to add to 2 and not that I don't appreciate RMD bringing it up but this was from GHS mid week
"We are also reiterating our Accumulate ratings on Brigham Exploration (BEXP) and Continental Resources (CLR) while maintaining our Buy ratings on Triangle Petroleum (TPLM) and U.S. Energy (USEG).:
TPLM is all acreage valuation as plays go at the moment.
BEXP is rapidly growing production and CF
So doesn't GHS have its ratings backwards based on 1 above? LOL.

OT: CIGX: Got notice from Schwab asking if I want to lend my shares to shorts.
June 4th, 2011 at 7:34 pmProbably a bit of increased regional risk premium for oil out of the uncertainty in Yemen.

June 4th, 2011 at 10:07 pmUS Dept of Transp approves Keystone Pipeline to resume. Is this a positive for the Bakken?
June 4th, 2011 at 10:46 pmOT: Pati — interesting! If you don't use margin in that account… or don't need the additional margin capacity from adding your CIGX shares (and given the volatility of CIGX, I would not use them to back margin borrowing)… ask Schwab "what's in it for you?" I mean… really! Ask. Schwab would get 35+% to loan your shares out. What do you get?
June 5th, 2011 at 11:43 amFun that they asked, tho. There are not many shares available to borrow… at some point, I am in the camp that this will end badly for the shorts in CIGX. But it does mean that the stock will be extra-volatile in the meantime.
Given that the initial Roskamp study results on their work with Alzheimers is in peer review… methinks (hopes) the publication will be timed to go with the launch of Anatabloc… thinking mid-July.
So thinking…. in mid-July, I think the shorts will fry. Looking forward to a Hot Summer. 🙂
