Zman’s Energy Brain ~ oil, gas, stocks, etc…

ZEB FAQ

Hello and Welcome! This site deals primarily with but is not limited to crude oil and natural gas fundamentals and their potential impact on stocks, options, and futures.

What you get when you subscribe:

  • 5 posts during the week + plus a wrap up post over the weekend
  • Trading alerts: when Z makes a trade you'll see it in comments and have the option to receive it as an email blast at no additional charge.
  • Holdings: spreadsheets detailing Z's trades

The historical archives from August 31, 2007 back to the dawn of ZEB are available free of charge.  Check out the July Archive to get a feel for what members have access to.

In the posts and comment areas we discuss everything Energy:

  • from the machinations of OPEC members …

  • … to the up to the minute play by play on EIA numbers …

  • … to the global oil supply and demand picture …

  • … and from natural gas storage levels, LNG and piped imports and their impacts on gas prices …

  • … to cracks spreads and there role in stock price movement among the refiners …

  • … to dayrates and oil service company prospects …

  • … and coal companies and the drybulk shippers who deliver it.

  • and finally we get down to the business of separating the wheat from the chaff. Just like a barrel of Bonny Light is different from a barrel of Kern County crude so too are all oil and gas companies different. We do in depth reports to try and identify under and over valued situations and act accordingly with options.

Notes about the new site:
  • Where is the home button? There is no home button…just click on the main title at the top of the page (zman's Energy Brain) and it will take you back to the front page / most current post.

  • How do I refresh the page? Hit the F5 key on your keyboard.

  • RSS Delivery. You can subscribe to get notice of new posts by subscribing in a reader or the "add to my Yahoo or Google home" buttons on the right hand side of the screen.

  • Email Delivery. Pretty self explanatory but I'll warn you I don't get notification of my own posts for 8 or 9 hours sometimes so I think RSS delivery is the way to go.

  • 5) Comments: Please comment. I learn as much or more every day from reader comments as I do from outside the confines of this blog. Also, just to be linear I try to keep comments to the current day's post and may miss stray comments to older dated posts. Lastly, let's keep it clean in there: no personal attacks.
WHAT HAPPENS AT ZMAN'S ENERGY BRAIN STAYS AT ZMAN'S ENERGY BRAIN. Please note that if you share my trades or other data, graphs, charts, tables, opinions from this site (without permission of course) you are in direct violation of the terms and conditions of this site and subject to account suspension without refund. I don't mind if you send something to someone on a one time basis but you must ask me first. I'm sure I'll say yes. But there are a lot of reasons why it does not benefit you to share the trades the most important of which is increased competition for trades subscribers might like to make. The bigger the crowd, the harder the fill. Doesn't matter on (XOM) but try getting a fill with a few hundred of your closest friends on (FTO) that trades 100 contracts a day and you'll see what I mean. Finally, this is what I do for a living so "giving it away" to your friends and family is stealing from me and my family. And that's just not cool. If you've got someone who would like the site that's GREAT! I suggest they sign up for month to see if they really like it. Free rides are for kids on the short bus, nobody else needs one. Thanks for your attention.

Anyway, that's it. Thanks for coming by. I'm glad you're here and happy hunting!

What are your thought rearding the aquisitions of oil riggers and new ipo of natural gas LP

    Hi Leslie,

Would you mind posting on the main site? It’s easy for me to miss these unless they’re over there.

The THE acquisition drove oil service higher yesterday but there’s not a lot of follow through today. It was a couple of smaller, primarily offshore rig guys getting together to achieve scale and was a good idea for them.

There will likely be further consolidation. Now, I’m not an oil service analyst but you have to wonder if the smaller players are feeling pressure from the E&Ps and majors to cut prices. Capex budgets are flattening a bit and the smaller service players may need to “get bigger” to stave off that pressure. Just a theory for now.

As to an IPO, not sure which one you’re talking about. Norther star, or Pinnacle, or someone else?

Z, What’s the best way to contact you via e-mail? I am becoming a student of this vast industry. From time to time I gain access to some potentially explosive investment ideas. Is it possible to discuss them with you offline? Maybe via the old fashion way, the tele? Please advise, and , thank you, Art
